Departure is at 9.30am and passengers will be back in Port Elizabeth at about 4.30pm. At this stage the excursions are to Thornhill (53km), with children rated at R60 per child (age 3-12) and adults R120 per person.

The train carries the Apple Tavern (Tuck shop). There you find souvenirs, sweets, soft drinks and packets of chips (crisps)

The train stops at Thornhill for 2 hours for lunch. 

All passengers MUST contact Thornhill Hotel themselves to arrange for their LUNCH requirements  (Options)

                        1.        TAKE YOUR OWN PICNIC LUNCH.

                        2.        REQUEST A PLACE ON THE BRAAI FIRE.

                                    The Hotel can supply Braai Packs if requested timorously.

                        3.        HAVE YOUR LUNCH IN THE HOTEL DININGROOM

Morning and/or afternoon trips to Chelsea Quarry, ( You Name it and the APPLE EXPRESS can take you there.)

CHARTER TRIPS

are available to Schools, Retirement Centres, Sport Clubs,Church & Social Groups Etc., also Team Building and Conference outings.

PLEASE NOTE:

This Narrow Gauge Train is operated by "THE PORT ELIZABETH APPLE EXPRESS" ( Section 21 Company.) 

 SPOORNET & METRO RAIL are not the carrier. It is a requirement of Spoornet that should there be any possibility of line-side fires due to excessive dry, hot or windy weather, steam will NOT be permitted to run and we will have to make use of a Narrow Gauge Diesel Locomotive. The P.E.A.E acknowledges this requirement of Spoornet and reserves the right to make this change, should it be necessary, at the last moment. By Order of the Section 21 Company.
